The International Fertilizer Industry Association once again placed important conferences in the industry in China to show its emphasis on the Chinese market. The World Fertilizer Agriculture Conference, which opened in Kunming on February 28, attracted 250 delegates from more than 40 countries.
The theme of the conference was "Optimizing fertilizer resources, using chemical fertilizers effectively, and promoting the sustainable development of agriculture." The meeting was not only concerned by the domestic chemical fertilizer production enterprises, but also attracted the attention of the agricultural offices of all provinces and cities and the "three stations" of agricultural technology.
At this meeting, the International Fertilizer Industry Association will issue a forecast for the demand for chemical fertilizers. Chinese government officials will analyze China’s agricultural policies, development status, and future development trends. They will analyze China’s economic policies and China’s agriculture during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†period. And fertilizer policies are elaborated. Nearly 30 experts and scholars of Chinese and foreign fertilizer production and use units will make special reports at the meeting.
Li Yongwu, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, and Li Xinhua, vice governor of Yunnan Province, all stated in their opening remarks that they hope to promote the development of agricultural science fertilization in China and promote China's fertilizer use through discussions and exchanges on the use of global fertilizer science. The fields of production, use, trade, and cooperation have entered a period of more healthy development.
The meeting held in Kunming was the first meeting of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) Agricultural Committee's special meeting to move to China. However, as far as IFA headquarters is concerned, this is the third time in six years that the industry’s most important conference has been held in China. The previous two were the International Fertilizer Production and Trade Conference held in Shanghai in 2000 and the World Chemical Fertilizer Production Technology Conference held in Beijing in 2004.
Like the previous two, this is the same as the China Chemical Construction Corporation jointly organized with the International Chemical Fertilizer Industry Association.
