The flotation column is a deep groove type compressed gas flotation machine. The flotation column has a simple structure and is mainly composed of a cylinder and an inflator. There is a feeding device and a foam scraper and a trough in the upper part of the column. The cone bottom of the lower part of the column is equipped with a tailings discharge pipe and an air lifting device. A measuring and controlling device for the inflation amount, the inflation pressure and the slurry surface is also provided outside the flotation column.
When the flotation column is working, the slurry is sprayed into the column from the ore feeder at the top through the ore pipe and slowly descends along the entire section of the column. At the same time, the compressed air with a certain pressure is inflated into the column through the inflator located at the lower part of the column, and a large number of tiny bubbles rise slowly along the entire section of the column. The slurry forms a convective movement with the bubbles, and the ore particles are in full contact with the bubbles. At this time, the floatable mineral adheres to the bubble and floats to the surface of the slurry to form a foam layer, which overflows as a concentrate or scrapes off with a scraper. Non-floating gangue minerals fall into the lower part of the column, are collected through the cone section, and are discharged from the tailings lifting device. The aerator is a key part of the flotation column. Its role is to provide sufficient wind and air volume for the flotation process, resulting in a large number of bubbles suitable for flotation. It can be seen that the operation of the inflator will directly affect the entire selection process. The factors that determine the working condition of the inflator are: the medium aperture, the inflation area, the configuration of the inflator, and the wind pressure and air volume of the external air supply duct.
Wind pressure and air volume are the two main conditions in flotation column operation. In general, the flotation column requires an air volume of 1.5 to 2.5 m3/m2•min, and a wind pressure of 0.8 to 1.5 kg/(cm)2. When selecting coarse or large specific gravity ore and the concentration of the slurry is relatively high, the wind pressure and wind pressure are taken as upper limits. The air volume and wind pressure required for fine-grained materials and low-concentration pulp can be reduced. The flotation column is suitable for processing materials ranging in size from 0.074 to 0.015 mm.
Flotation column at home and abroad has been widely used for sorting non-ferrous metal sulfide ore containing gold and so on. The advantages of a flotation column compared to a mechanically agitated flotation machine are:
1) Simple structure and small footprint;
2) The enrichment ratio of the beneficiation is large, the treatment volume is high, and the process flow is simplified;
3) It is convenient to overhaul and operate, and it is easy to realize automatic control;
4) Less wearing parts and less power consumption. Its shortcomings are: the work is not stable enough, the compressed air consumption is large, the dosage of the medicine is large, the grade of the concentrate is low, and the metal loss is easily caused during maintenance.
