GE Provides Equipment for West-East Gas Compressor Station

GE's Oil and Gas Business Unit recently signed a contract with China Petroleum Materials and Equipment Corporation and PetroChina West-East Gas Pipeline Company to provide equipment for the expansion of the West-East Gas Pipeline project. The contract is worth US$196 million and GE will provide gas turbines, compressors and facilities for 12 new compression stations.

It is reported that GE will provide 20 PGT25+ gas turbine generators and 24 PCL800 compressors. Each PGT 25+ unit includes a L M2500+ natural gas generator, which is connected to a high-speed power turbine. In addition to supplying equipment, GE will also provide setup, start-up and training services as well as spare parts supply. The 8 gas turbines and compressors needed in 12 new pipeline compression stations will be completed and installed in place within this year. The remaining 4 compression station equipment will be installed in the second half of 2008 and will be put in place in early 2009. These new compression stations will be put into operation from August 2006 to September 2009.
