Bosch Launches 75 Million Common Rail System

The Bosch Group announced that it has produced the 75 million common rail system.

Common rail system technology was first adopted 14 years ago, marking the start of a new image of diesel engines. In 1997, the market share of diesel-powered passenger cars in Western Europe was 22%, and now in Western Europe, new cars registered every second are diesel-powered cars.

Markus Heyn, Vice President of the Bosch Group's Diesel Systems Business Unit, pointed out that in the past, diesel engines have given people the impression that they are economical and powerful. The current common-rail system diesel engine is not only high-performance, durable, but also very dynamic, comfortable and environmentally friendly.

The first common rail system adopted in 1997 was the 156 JTD model of Alfa Romeo and the C220 CDI model of Mercedes-Benz. In the years after 1997, the common rail system technology was widely promoted.

In 2001, a total of 3 million vehicles worldwide used Bosch's common rail system. By 2002, this figure had grown to 10 million, and by early 2009 it had increased to 50 million.
