The pilot project for the remanufacturing of auto parts was officially launched, and vehicle maintenance is expected to take a two-fold turn. Yesterday, the reporter learned from the Dunkou Development Zone that the National Development and Reform Commission has delineated 14 first pilot companies, Hubei Dongfeng Hongtai Holding Group and Dongfeng Cummins Engine.
5 large cars allow regeneration
The “Administrative Measures for the Remanufacturing of Auto Parts and Pilots†clarified the scope of “regeneration†of auto parts, and was temporarily limited to five categories of engines, transmissions, generators, starters, and steering gears. “In the past, the policy barriers that had been faced by the remanufacturers of automobiles had been broken.†Yesterday, Wang Zhenkun, general manager of Dongfeng Hongtai, said that the “five major assemblies†such as previously disassembled engines could only be recycled as scrap iron and were prohibited from entering the circulation field.
This time, Dongfeng Hongtai, Dongfeng Cummins and other 11 parts and components companies obtained pilot qualifications, and the other three were full vehicle manufacturers.
Invested 200 million yuan to build a pilot base
According to Wang Zhenkun, general manager of Dongfeng Hongtai, Dongfeng Motor will set up an independent subsidiary to undertake the recycling project of automobile resources. The first phase will invest 200 million yuan to build a pilot base of 300 acres. After completion of the project, it is possible to recycle and dispose of 50,000 used vehicles, 100,000 tons of used materials, and 100,000 sets of auto parts annually.
According to reports, the old cars recovered from the base are mainly for Dongfeng Citroen and Dongfeng Peugeot, the two major brand cars of Shenlong, and will be extended to other Dongfeng vehicle models.
According to calculations, the scale of the base industry can reach 2.7 billion yuan within three years. Calculated with 100,000 sets of recycled components, at least 30,000 tons of steel can be saved each year, and steelmaking emissions can be greatly reduced.
Car repair is expected to play two fold
For consumers, car replacement parts will have cheaper options. According to regulations, "renewable" parts are currently only available for vehicle maintenance and will also be marked with "remanufacturing" signs.
Wang Zhenkun said that these "renewable" parts and components market prices are generally 55% of the price of new items. Although it is a recycled part, the quality can meet the requirements of the new part and it provides the same warranty as the new product.
