China R&D Center Powertrain System Test Building is fully operational in Jiading, Shanghai

Continental, a global auto parts supplier, has announced that its Automotive R&D center powertrain system test building in Jiading Industrial Zone in Shanghai has been fully operational. Continental will develop and test new technologies and products that meet the needs of Chinese automakers. From gasoline engines to diesel engines , all engine solutions will be tested in Jiading from Euro IV to Euro V and Euro VI standards.

In order to achieve the target of 25 percent of the total global sales in Asia in 2013, Continental established the Automotive R&D Center in Jiading, Shanghai in April 2009. As one of the major technology centers in Asia, the Jiading R&D Center provides support to the Chassis and Safety Systems Division and the Powertrain Systems Department, further consolidating its leading position in China. This R&D center is part of Continental’s grand growth plan in China. The Chinese auto market is booming, and the Continental Group hopes to increase its business in China by increasing its R&D, procurement and production capabilities.

Located in Shanghai's new automotive industry base, the center occupies an area of ​​26 mu (approximately 667 square meters per mu), and plays an important role in expanding local R&D talent resources, enhancing local R&D capabilities, and optimizing R&D costs for Asian OEMs. The R&D center currently has 200 employees and develops products and solutions that are of superior quality, cost-effective and innovative, further improving driving safety, reducing traffic accidents, improving fuel efficiency, and reducing CO2 emissions in the local market. Utilizing scalable modular products, Continental can meet customers' needs for small, medium to high-end cars.

The powertrain system test building is mainly composed of an engine system R&D and calibration team, which plays an important role in further improving the competitiveness of the powertrain system department. More than 100 employees will work in the Powertrain System Test Building and will work closely with other powertrain system teams at Dalian Road and Changchun in Shanghai to provide better service to Chinese OEMs.

The powertrain system test building is divided into two layers, of which the laboratory covers more than 2,000 square meters. The test building is equipped with advanced testing equipment, including a dynamic engine dynamometer and a chassis dynamometer with an environmental control chamber, which allows full testing of the engine and the entire vehicle powertrain system.

ZC compact design, high pressure, Forged Steel Check Valves are designed and manufactured according to BS 5352 to meet requirements of small Pipelines up to 50NB. They are available either with Threaded or Socket Weld ends. Hard Faced Trim material ensures perfect Sealing and long life. Properly guided Lift type Disc which acts on its own according to flow direction. These Valves are generally suitable for horizontal installation.

ZC Check Valves are available in varied materials like Forged Carbon Steel conforming to A105; Forged Alloy Steel like LF2, F11, F22, and Forged Stainless Steel like F304, F304L, F316 and F316L. Size range commences from 10NB through 50NB and pressure rating up to ANSI 800#.

Bonney Forge valves are available in two bonnet designs. The first design is the Bolted Bonnet, with male-female joint, spiral wound gasket, made in F316L/graphite. Ring joint gasket are also available on request. The second design is the welded bonnet, with a threaded and seal welded joint. On request a full penetration strength welded joint is available.

The check valves are also available in three different design configurations. These are piston check, ball check, or swing check designs.
