Japan Catalyst launches SAP facility in Indonesia

Nippon Shokubai Co. said on December 21 that a set of 80,000-ton/year acrylic acid and a 90,000-ton/year superabsorbent polymer (SAP) unit on Java Island, Indonesia, are scheduled to go into production in 2013. Both of these devices were started construction at the end of 2010. SAP is mainly used for the production of disposable diapers and feminine hygiene products. According to World Bank statistics, Indonesia's children under the age of 14 account for 27.4% of the total population, and women's share of the population is 50.1%.
