During the exhibition, BASF organized the Asia-Pacific region to invite its customers to visit its new TPU regional plant in Pudong, Shanghai, including a polyurethane compound plant, a research and development center, and a TPU production facility. This indicates that the facility has been fully operational to serve China and the Asia-Pacific market. This is the first time TPU customer event has been held since the official opening last year.

By investing in building a new regional TPU base in Shanghai, BASF will be in a better position to provide customers with a faster response. The base will develop TPU technology and innovative products that are more in line with local needs, and thus achieve greater success in products and business. This new base is BASF's second TPU production base in the Asia-Pacific region, which will further complement the existing TPU plant in Yokkaichi, Japan. Other BASF TPU production sites are located in Japan, Germany, the United States, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
It is expected that by 2015 China's polyurethane market will grow at an annual growth rate of 10% in order to further cater to the future market growth momentum. Pudong's new plant will meet the needs of the booming market in Asia Pacific, including automotive, electrical and electronics, and sports and leisure.
