Anchai introduces Mitsui-Dafa MD-G gas engine technology

In order to cope with the adverse impact of the ship market cyclical fluctuations on the shipbuilding industry and improve the ability to resist risks, China State Shipbuilding Corporation has put forward the idea of diversified development on the basis of doing the best and strengthening the main business. After unremitting efforts, CSSC has made new breakthroughs in expanding its supporting industries. On February 28, Anqing China Ship Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. and MD Engineering Co., Ltd., owned by CSSC, held MD-G gas engines in Beijing. License contract signing ceremony. Mr. Tan Zuoyan, general manager of CSSC, and Mr. Lu Xiaoyan, deputy general manager of the company, Daisuke Maeda, president of Daihatsu Diesel Co., Ltd., and Shinji Sada, director of Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., attended the signing ceremony.

Before the signing ceremony, Tan Zuojun held talks with Harada. Tan Zuoyu said that CSSC has cooperated with Dafa Diesel for more than 30 years, and the friendly cooperation between the two sides will continue and expand into a wider field. Although the shipbuilding industry faces great difficulties due to the continued impact of the international financial crisis, shipping companies still have regular updates on ships, especially the replacement of existing ships with low fuel consumption and low emission new ships. Therefore, we hope to cooperate with world-famous ship supporting manufacturers such as Daihatsu Diesel Engine to meet the challenges of the ship market with stronger strength and greater advantages, and on this basis, strive to expand marine products to the land market.

Lu Xiaoyan said at the signing ceremony that in the 1980s, CSSC had cooperated with Mitsui Shipbuilding and Daihatsu Diesel to establish a profound friendship. In 2009, CSSC and Mitsui Shipbuilding held a non-ship business exchange meeting, which achieved good results. The two sides decided to cooperate in several non-ship areas. The introduction of the gas engine technology of Mitsui Shipbuilding and Daihatsu Diesel Engine by Anchai is one of the new cooperation projects. She hopes that with the help of the partners, Anchai can speed up the digestion and absorption of gas engine technology and bring the products to market as soon as possible. At the same time, we hope that CSSC and Mitsui Shipbuilding and Daihatsu Diesel can be used in more fields. Cooperation in various forms will make the cooperation between the three parties closer and achieve better development.

It is understood that in order to meet the requirements of “optimizing the structure and promoting the transformation of diversified industries”, CSSC actively communicated with Mitsui Shipbuilding and Daihatsu diesel engines. After more than one year of negotiations, the company finally reached an agreement with the other party on the introduction of gas engine technology. And signed the MD-G gas engine license contract.

MD Engineering Co., Ltd. was established by Mitsui Shipbuilding and Daihatsu Diesel Engine, each holding 50% of the shares. The MD-G gas engine is a gas engine jointly developed by Mitsui Shipbuilding and Daihatsu Diesel Engine based on Daihatsu DK-36 and DK-20 diesel engines. MD has the right to use and sublicense the patented technology. The gas engine is an engine that uses natural gas, coalbed methane, landfill gas, etc. as a combustion medium. Because of its advantages of almost zero emissions and resource recycling, it can be used in ships, marine engineering, natural gas transmission systems, coal mines and urban landfills. Fields and other industries have large market demand. With the increasing voice of global energy conservation and emission reduction, the market prospect of gas engines is very broad. At present, the MD-G gas engine can only burn pure natural gas, but can adapt and improve according to the change of the combustion medium, and its technical performance is at an advanced level in the world.

At the signing ceremony, both Anchai and MD stated that the two parties will jointly develop and improve the next step, adapting the MD series gas engines to the needs of the Chinese market as soon as possible, and actively exploring broad market areas.
