SAIC-GM-Wuling disclosed recently that it has formally signed a cooperation agreement with the Chongqing Municipal Government and will invest RMB 6.6 billion in building a third base in Chongqing next year.
The Chongqing Base will start construction at the beginning of next year, and it is expected that it will have 400,000 complete vehicle and engine capabilities after it is completed in 2015. This is the company's second large-scale investment in just 10 days. Ten days ago, SAIC-GM-Wuling invested approximately RMB 8 billion in the Liuzhou headquarters in Guangxi to build a production base for Baojun passenger vehicles. SAIC-GM-Wuling pointed out that the establishment of a third base in the central and western regions by the construction of off-site facilities will better meet the market in the central and western regions, as well as the timely response of the national market and meet the needs of customers.
