China R & D fusion reactor maximum length superconducting cable conductor

On August 16, a 765-meter CB superconducting cable conductor went offline at Silver-colored Changtong Company under the supervision of officials at the ITER Program headquarters. This conductor is the maximum length of superconducting cable running in the ITER unit.

The ITER device is a superconducting Tokemark that produces large-scale nuclear fusion reactions and aims to establish a human-friendly sustainable clean energy system, commonly known as the "artificial sun." In January 2003, the Chinese government formally participated in the ITER program negotiation and became one of the cooperative members of the program. According to the agreement, China will assume 70% of the installed capacity of cable conductor.

Superconducting cable conductor is the core part of ITER device superconducting cable, according to a certain twist parameters, 0.73 mm diameter of the low temperature superconducting materials and metal single wire 5 strands into strands of conductors. "Each level of stranded parameters must be uploaded to the ITER data system, confirmed by the project officer's analysis." Li Tongzi, senior engineer at Changtong Company, said.

The project team of Changtong Company optimized the process parameters of squeezing, twisting, drawing, splice and welding during the development, and strengthened the technical quality control. This new cable conductor will arrive at the Hefei Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences recently and will be delivered to ITER's headquarters in France for installation.

Long-colored silver company is China's wire and cable industry's key enterprises. The company developed and produced various types of high and low temperature superconducting cables successfully used in aerospace, new energy and physical basic research and other fields. This year has been provided to ITER four CB, PF5 type cable conductor, have been assembled and run.
