An unexpected wealth saved a dangerous church in Vancouver Island: a pair of armchairs donated to the church several decades ago was a 300-year-old Chinese Qing Dynasty antique, recently photographed at Sotheby’s in New York City. A high price of $630,000 (3 times the valuation).

Two years ago, an antique dealer attending a bible study found the value of this pair of armchairs. This was undoubtedly a relief for the church that had been in financial difficulties at the time.
