Beijing will become the country's largest green energy vehicle R&D center


The Beijing New Energy Automobile Design and Engineering Center, with a total investment of 144 million yuan , was recently completed at Beiqi Foton's headquarters. The center will be mainly used for the design and research and development of new energy vehicles , and will use this platform to further integrate the strengths of all parties in the automotive field, opening up the value chain of scientific and technological innovation from basic research, application development, system integration, technology transfer, and industrialization. in particular, integration of key technology research for new energy vehicles and power systems lay the foundation for further development with independent intellectual property rights of new energy vehicles. Zhao Jingguang, secretary-general of Beijing New Energy Automobile Industry Alliance, said that the completion of the center is not only an important step in the development strategy of Foton Auto's new energy vehicles, but also will further strengthen the R&D strength of Beijing New Energy Automobile Industry Base formed on the basis of Foton Motor.

Since 2003, Foton Motors has taken “new energy R&D and application” as the core strategy for enterprise development. In 2005, it invested 500 million yuan to build a key laboratory for energy conservation and emission reduction with leading domestic level, and set up a dedicated new The Energy Automotive Technology Center researches and develops three major green energy technologies that are synchronized with the world – clean energy, alternative energy, and new energy technologies. The technology has been widely used in large and medium-sized passenger cars, MPVs, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and light trucks. Commercial vehicles, of which two series have been commercialized. Foton Motors plans to produce and sell 1,1,500 new energy vehicles in 2010 and increase the proportion of new energy vehicles to more than 15% by 2015.

Futian Automobile currently undertakes new energy vehicle R&D projects, and its technical water level is at the leading position in China: for example, the 12-meter pure electric bus that Beijing Bus Group will put into operation this year; and the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” 863 project that is undertaken by Tsinghua University. Development of fuel cell vehicle; 863 project undertaken in cooperation with Beijing Institute of Technology, etc.—R&D of vehicle technology for rechargeable hybrid “Midi”; pure electric sanitation vehicle developed in cooperation with Beijing Institute of Technology.

It is understood that Beijing's new energy automotive design and manufacturing industry base's research and development capabilities have covered Beijing New Energy Automobile Design and Engineering Center, a key laboratory for energy conservation and emission reduction, and a professional R&D and design center for green energy trial production, to meet green energy vehicles. The needs of R&D, design, trial production, and manufacturing stages are currently the largest green energy R&D center in China.

It is reported that Beijing New Energy Automotive Industry Alliance has now consolidated its advantageous resources in the field of new energy vehicles in Beijing and even in China, including vehicle companies, parts and components companies, research institutes, and end users. The alliance was initiated by more than 50 units including Beiqi Holding Company, Beijing Public Transport Group and Beijing Institute of Technology. Currently, there are more than 60 enterprises including Jingjin Electric Technology Co., Ltd., CITIC Guoan League Co., Ltd., and Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China Launch Vehicle.
