(Reporter Yang Kairan) Shanghai Automotive announced yesterday that it will invest 210 million yuan to establish a commercial vehicle technology center within five years. This is the first time that SAIC Motor has established a commercial vehicle R&D institution.
It is reported that the technology center will develop commercial vehicles. Vehicles produced by Shanghai Shenwo, Shanghai Huizhong and SAIC-Iveco may use the technology of this R&D institution.
SAIC is currently the largest auto company in China. It achieved overall listing through additional issuance last year. Commercial vehicle assets have also been put into listed companies, and its commercial vehicles have a financing platform. Previously, commercial vehicles had been a shortcoming for SAIC compared to FAW and Dongfeng.
