New progress in the study of mid-infrared Er3 doped laser crystals from Anguang Institute

[ China Instrument Network Instrument Development ] Recently, the research team of Sun Dunlu, Research Institute of Heguang Institute of Hefei Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, has made a series of new research progress in the research of Er3+ doped mid-infrared laser crystal: further realized on an anti-radiation laser crystal. High power, high repetition rate 2.79 micron output; 2.71 and 2.73 micron dual wavelength polarized laser output on another crystal. Relevant research results have been published on Optics Letters, Optics Express and Optical Materials.

The 2.7–3 micron mid-infrared laser has a wide range of applications in biomedical, scientific research and atmospheric detection. In particular, high peak power and high repetition rate 2.7–3 micron lasers have attracted wide attention in the field of optoelectronic countermeasures and nonlinear optics.
Based on the previous research work, the research team further studied the laser performance of Er, Pr:GYSGG crystal by 966nm LD side pumping method. At a repetition rate of 125 Hz and a pulse width of 200 microseconds, a laser output with a maximum output power of 8.86 watts, electro-optic efficiency, and oblique efficiency of 7.7% and 14.8%, respectively, was achieved. The results show that a high performance 2.79 micron laser can be obtained by doping the deactivated ions Pr3+ and LD side pumps.
In addition, the group also implemented LD end-pumped 2710 and 2728 nm dual-wavelength polarized laser outputs on Er:YAP crystals. Through the thermal simulation analysis, laser performance and beam quality of different size Er:YAP crystal components, it is found that the proper size is beneficial to reduce the thermal lens effect of the crystal and improve the laser efficiency.
At the same time, they also used the Czochralski method to grow high optical quality Er, Pr:YAP crystals. It is found that the incorporation of the energy level coupling ion Pr3+ is beneficial to reduce the laser threshold and improve the laser efficiency. However, the doping concentration of Er3+ and Pr3+ ions still needs to be further optimized.
The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and national high-tech projects.

Stamping Parts

Stamping parts: The most used in hardware processing refers to the molds for steel/non-ferrous metals and other plates at room temperature, which are formed into a specified shape by the pressure required for processing by a press. Automobile shock absorbers are mainly used to suppress the shock of the spring and the impact from the road surface when the spring rebounds after shock absorption. When passing on uneven roads, although the shock-absorbing spring can filter the vibration of the road, the spring itself will reciprocate, and the car shock absorber is used to suppress the jump of this spring. If the shock absorber is too soft, the body will jump up and down. If the shock absorber is too hard, it will bring too much resistance and prevent the spring from working properly. In the process of modifying the suspension system, the hard shock absorber should be matched with the hard spring, and the hardness of the spring is closely related to the weight of the car. Therefore, heavier cars generally use harder automotive shock absorber stamping parts. A device connected to the vibration-inducing crankshaft to counteract the torsional vibration of the crankshaft (that is, the phenomenon that the crankshaft is twisted by the impact of the ignition of the cylinder)
