How do these pits come from, and knowing the reasons can better prevent the recurrence of such problems. There are three major causes of pits, factors that are caused by traffic factors, construction factors, and water damage.
First, traffic factors
Traffic problems in big cities have become the focus of the problem. Traffic jams and chaotic traffic orders have become increasingly prominent. This has caused more and more shocks and pressure on the roads, which has drastically shortened the life of highways. There is often an accumulation of excessive traffic on the road, and the traffic volume is much greater than before. Far more than that, the phenomenon of vehicle overloading and over-limit transportation is very serious. This undoubtedly increases the burden on the road surface, causing local fatigue cracks in the road structure. There are more vehicles on the road, which also means that the probability of accidents increases. Leakage of fuel caused by vehicle accidents will lead to the dissolution of the asphalt on the road surface and gradually exfoliate to form pits.
Second, construction factors
Several of the construction factors can lead to the appearance of such pits, 1) pits caused by improper temperature control of the mix. During the construction, the temperature of the mixture is too high, the asphalt will be aged during the heating process, and the bonding will not be firm, forming pits. On the contrary, when the temperature of the mixture during construction is too low, a good compaction effect cannot be achieved, which also forms pits. 2) Pits caused by poor contact between layers. Because the interlayer contamination or sticky layer oil is not sprayed according to the process requirements, no complete continuous stress system is formed between the layers, and eventually a single pit is formed. 3) Potholes caused by the segregation of the local gradation of the mixture during the construction process.
Third, the water damage caused by factors
Damage to water damage means that moisture gradually penetrates into the interface between the asphalt and the aggregate, which reduces the adhesion of the asphalt and gradually loses the adhesive force. As a result, the asphalt membrane will gradually fall off, and this will form a water-damaging pit on the road surface.
