This radar is quite small and can be hand-held by a single person. It is called Range-R and is manufactured by L-3 Communications. The radar is powerful enough to detect movement and breathing of all human beings within a radius of 50 feet (about 15.2 meters). The microwaves they emit can penetrate one-foot-thick concrete walls to detect behind-the-scenes terrorists. However, the perspective radar of such whisper-quiet equipment has caused American media skepticism in terms of legal and privacy protection. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the absence of a search warrant on the use of a perspective radar or thermal imager to scan private homes is an abuse of power.
