Driven by market demand and high profits, the polyester industry in China has seen rapid development in recent years. State-owned, private, and foreign-funded enterprises have invested large amounts of funds to build polyester projects in China. The polyester production capacity has increased from 2.528 million tons at the end of 1996 to At the end of 2003, 11.8 million tons had an average annual growth rate of 24.6%. In 2004, China's polyester production capacity reached 16 million tons.

With the leaping development of the polyester industry, the supply of PTA (pure terephthalic acid), the main raw material, is seriously deficient. Domestically, a large amount of imports are required. The import volume accounts for 50% of domestic demand. It is estimated that in 2006 China's PTA production capacity will increase by 2.8 million tons to 6.9 million tons; in 2007, it is expected to exceed 7.6 million tons; in 2010, it may reach 8 million tons.

The huge market demand of PTA has stimulated a large amount of funds to invest in this field. At present, a large number of PTA projects in China are under construction or ready to start. Such as Jiangsu Yizheng, Henan Luoyang, Shandong Jinan, Sichuan Zigong, Liaoning Liaoyang, Jiangsu Shaoxing, Nanjing Yangtze, Jiangsu Zhangjiagang, Guangdong Zhuhai, Fujian Shishi, Ningbo, Zhejiang, etc., the scale of construction also from the past 200,000 to 450,000 tons / year development It is 600,000 to 1 million tons per year.

The PTA plant has more than 350 main production facilities, including 2 reactors, 8 towers, 90 heat exchangers, 67 vessels, 15 compressors and fans, 91 pumps, 13 silos, and special machinery 44 Taiwan, 29 transmission equipment. Key equipment includes oxidation reactors, air compressors, rotary dryers, crystallizers, vacuum filters, hydrogen compressors, and titanium heat exchangers. Because most of its production media contain acetic acid and bromide, the corrosion of equipment is extremely strong, and many devices need to be made of low carbon stainless steel or titanium.

In the early 90s of last century, a batch of 200,000 tons/year PTA units such as Liaoyang, Tianjin, Luoyang, Yizheng, and Shanghai were constructed domestically. At that time, due to the domestic lack of knowledge of PTA's production processes and equipment, its processes and equipment were basically introduced. . After more than a decade of production operations, most of these PTA installations are facing renovations and expansions. At present, China has a deep understanding of PTA equipment and began to try to make equipment domestically. For example, domestic PTA rotary dryers, titanium heat exchangers, pressure centrifuges, etc. in Yizheng Chemical Fiber, Yangzi Petrochemical, Liaoyang Chemical Fiber 220,000 Ton/year PTA device is applied.

In 2000, Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre Co., Ltd. approved the construction of a 450,000-ton/year PTA plant. This scale of PTA production plant was also the largest in the world at the time. The localization office of major equipment of Sinopec Group has organized localization research and demonstration of feasibility for this purpose. All domestic related machinery manufacturing enterprises have formulated localized development plans. But at that time, because the 450,000-ton/year PTA process technology was all from abroad, the preliminary design of the project was also undertaken by foreign countries. Users were not assured of domestically developed equipment. Under the strong demand of users, most of the rotating equipment and titanium equipment are basically imported. The domestic only produced ordinary carbon steel or stainless steel equipment.

Recently, Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company approved by the state will build a set of 1 million tons/year PTA project. In order to change the long-term reliance on importation of PTA device major equipment, the country has determined to rely on Yizheng 1 million tons/year PTA project to carry out domestic research on key equipment and achieve localization of major PTA equipment.

In five years, the equipment capacity and technical level of domestic machinery manufacturing enterprises have greatly improved, and the process and engineering design of Yizheng's 1 million tons/year PTA project is undertaken by Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd. The conditions provide good conditions.
