Cooper and Taiwan’s Jianda Tire Co., Ltd. will jointly set up factories in the mainland


Taiwan’s Jianda Industrial Co., Ltd. recently announced that it will establish a joint venture with Cooper, a tire company in the United States, to establish a factory specializing in the production of radiation layer tires and all-steel wire truck tires on the mainland.
According to the decision passed by the board of directors of the two parties, the initial registered capital of the joint venture tire factory is US$25 million. The two sides will hold a share of the shares. The construction project will be started from next year. It will be put into production in 2005, and will be expanded in phases thereafter, bringing the total investment to US$100 million. Capacity reaches 10 million. The site was initially determined in Jiangsu Province.
China National Construction Industry Corporation currently has a factory in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province that produces 3 million radial tires per year. It plans to expand the plant's production capacity to 7 million in 2005. By then, the construction of the mainland will greatly exceed the tire production capacity of the tire production company in Korea. Korean tire manufacturing company currently produces 9 million radial tires per year.
